Cliffside Inscription of “Diao Yu Cheng”

The monument inscription is 0.96 meters high, 2.4 meters wide, covering an area of 2.3 square meters. The three characters “Diao Yu Cheng”, each 0.7 meter across, were written by Shen Huaiyuan, a native of Huiji (present-day Shaoxing City in Zhejiang Province) and a high official of Hezhou in early spring of 1780 during the Qing Dynasty. The cliff inscription was made by Yi Qing, a Buddhist monk of the Huguosi Temple. It is an excellent piece of inscription, fully showing the spirit of the calligrapher.
