The Former Residence of Lu Zuofu is located in Heyangcheng Street, Hechuan District. It was the residence of Lu Zuofu when he returned to Hechuan to prepare for the establishment of Minsheng Company in 1925. The main building was built in the late Qing Dynasty and is a wooden structure building with a suspended gable roof and a column-and-tie construction. It is now a cultural relics protection unit at the municipal level in Chongqing.
Lu Zuofu (1893 - 1952), a native of Hechuan, Chongqing, was a famous patriotic industrialist, educator and social activist in modern times. He was the founder of Minsheng Company and the pioneer of China's shipping industry, and was known as the "King of Chinese Shipping" and the "Father of Beibei". Lu Zuofu unified the shipping on the Chuanjiang River, forced foreign shipping forces to withdraw from the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and organized and commanded the "Great Retreat at Yichang", saving the national industry of the whole of China during the Anti-Japanese War. Mao Zedong commented that he was one of the people in China's national industry who could not be forgotten.
