



The Memorial Hall of Mr. Tao Xingzhi is located in Caojie Street, Hechuan District. It consists of the former site of Yu Cai School (Gu Sheng Temple), the exhibition hall, the stele pavilion, Zhouzi Pool, Yishao Study and so on. It is the fourth largest memorial hall of Mr. Tao Xingzhi in China, a patriotic education base in Chongqing, a demonstration base for clean governance education and a traditional education base for the China Democratic League.
The former site of Yu Cai School (Gu Sheng Temple) is a key cultural relics protection unit under national-level. Originally built as a temple during the Longqing period of the Ming Dynasty, in 1939, Mr. Tao Xingzhi founded the world-renowned Yu Cai School here. His theory of life education was fully practiced here and achieved fruitful results.
Tao Xingzhi (1891 - 1946) was from She County, Anhui Province. He was a great contemporary people's educator, thinker, an outstanding democratic fighter and one of the main leaders of the Chinese National Salvation Association and the China Democratic League. Mr. Tao Xingzhi put forward three major propositions: "Life is education", "Society is school" and "Integration of teaching, learning and doing".
