From May 31 to June 2, the “Study in Chongqing“ themed social practice activity for international students from universities in Chengdu and Chongqing, which was sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and hosted by Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, was held in Hechuan. By visiting historical and cultural relics and modern industrial parks, engaging in dialogues with Chinese students, and experiencing intangible cultural heritage techniques, the activity enriched the forms of exchanges between Chinese and foreign young people, broadened the dimensions for international students to tell China‘s stories, and enhanced the spread and influence of Chinese civilization.
Participate in cultural tourism festivals
The themed social practice activity for international students from universities in Chengdu and Chongqing coincided with the opening ceremony of the 2024 Diaoyucheng fortress Tourism and Cultural Festival and the countdown ceremony for the 100th day before the start of the Seventh Chongqing Municipal Sports Meeting. Nearly 100 international students from universities in Chengdu and Chongqing came to the scene to watch the opening ceremony that night.
Explore historical and cultural relics
The international students from universities in Chengdu and Chongqing took the "Diaoyucheng fortress" cruise to visit the Diaoyucheng fortress scenic area, where they visited the Huguo Temple, Hanging reclining Buddha, and the Diaoyu Tai, learned about the history and culture of Diaoyucheng fortress, experienced the intangible cultural heritage market, and watched Sichuan Opera performances. They were also fascinated by the ancient streets and alleys in Laitan Ancient Town, stopping to take photos and tasting local delicacies.
Experience intangible traditional skills
After visiting Diaoyucheng fortress, the international students walked into the Liu Hanyin Lacquer Carving Studio in the Diaoyucheng fortress Art Village, where they admired exquisite lacquer carving artworks and experienced intangible cultural heritage techniques such as lacquer floating and lacquer carving, creating unique lacquer floating fans.
Visit special industrial parks
The international students visited the Corporate Culture Hall and Technology Center of Chiaerann Pharmaceutical, where they experienced traditional Chinese medicine culture and production techniques.
Conduct cultural exchange activities
The international students also arrived at the Chongqing College of Mobile Telecommunications to personally experience cultural activities associated with the Dragon Boat Festival, such as wrapping zongzi and painting sugar paintings. They jointly held a "Study in Chongqing" music exchange evening, which conveyed friendship between China and foreign countries and promoted cultural integration.
As the event came to a successful conclusion, the international students expressed that this themed social practice activity was an unforgettable experience. They not only gained a deeper understanding of the culture of Hechuan, but also developed a profound affection for it.
