This inscription, together with those nearby, was carved in July, 1943 when the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression was experiencing an unprecedented hard moment. Due to the repeated indiscriminate bombings of Hechuan by the Japanese invaders, the Hechuan-based Special Training Class under the Nationalist Party of China Army Officer Academy (commonly known as the Whampoa Military Academy) was relocated to the Diaoyucheng City. Upon the 10th anniversary of the special training program, Chiang Kaishek, then head of the Kuomintang-controlled government and meanwhile commandant of the Whampoa Military Academy, wrote the inscription and sent some high-ranking government officials such as He Yingqin, Bai Chongxi and Zhang Zhizhong on behalf of his government to celebrate the anniversary held in the City. Besides this long inscription penned by Chiang Kaishek himself, you can also find on nearby cliffside inscriptions by He, Bai, Zhang and many other Kuomintang officials.
