Known as “the last county yamen (government office) of Southern Song Dynasty”, the government office of Sizhao county in Hezhou was the only local government office of the Southern Song dynasty that lasted to the 16th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1279).After the Ran brothers built the city on the Diaoyushan Hill,the local government offices of Hezhou and Shizhao County were moved to the Diaoyucheng Fortress to take the responsibilities of building towns,planting and dealing with civil cases.As buildings of the government office of Shizhao County were rebuilt on existing common houses, the scale, layout and artistic features of the yamen show the artistic style of ancient dwellings in Eastern Sicuan. Besides, they were practical and adapted to natural conditions.In April 2009, Government Office of Sizhao County was open to the public after being repaired.
