The Site of Nine Pots


    The Site of the Nine Pots is located in the middle of the ring city on the top of the mountain of the Diaoyucheng Fortress, covering an area of almost 5,000 square meters, left the architectural foundation grooves and bases of pillars, among which there are also pot-shaped pits with the smooth surface and a circular center like the plinths.Archaeological research has found that there are five groups of remains in the site.The first group of remains are mainly circular pits, located on the edge of the cliff in the northwest of the site, before the Song and Mongolian War.The second group of remains are the temple buildings, mainly located in the northeast of the site beside the horse road.The third group is the military architectures of the war period between the Song and Mongolian, mainly located in the southwest of the site. The fourth group is the related facilities of the restoration of Diaoyucheng Fortress in the middle and late Qing Dynasty, which is widely distributed.The rest of remains are mainly circular holes for pillars, which some of them are presumed to be cliff guard fence while the other uses are unknown. Experts believe that it may be a place where gunpowder raw materials are ground and weapons are made, so it is known as "the earliest existing Arsenal site in China".
