In Hechuan, the three rivers, namely the Jialing River, the Fujiang River and the Qujiang River, converge and flow through the area. With abundant water resources, there has been a cultural tradition of rowing dragon boats, holding dragon boat races and watching dragon boat competitions since ancient times. Therefore, Hechuan has long been renowned as the "Hometown of Dragon Boats".In recent years, Hechuan has been actively building the brand of dragon boat culture. Since 2000, specialized men's and women's dragon boat teams have been established. They have represented Chongqing City on many occasions to participate in the dragon boat races at the National Games and the Traditional Sports Games of Ethnic Minorities in China, and have won numerous honors. Hechuan has also successively held various dragon boat competitions at different levels, such as the Dragon Boat World Cup, the China Dragon Boat Grand Prix, the China Dragon Boat Open, the Chongqing Dragon Boat Open and the Hechuan Dragon Boat Race on the Dragon Boat Festival.
