Erfo Temple

The original name of Erfo Temple is Jiufeng Zen Temple, which is divided into upper and lower halls. The Upper Hall is located on the top of Jiufeng Mountain, consisting of three hall levels. Along the central axis, there are the gate, Maitreya Hall, Mahavira Hall, and Guanyin Hall in sequence. The cliff stone carvings of the lower hall, including the Erfo Buddha, have a long history, dating back to the Tang Dynasty and reaching its peak in the Song Dynasty. There are 42 main niches left, with a total of 1,700 statues, making it the largest gathering spot of Zen cliff stone carvings in China. Among them, the main Buddha statue of Shakyamuni stands 12.5 meters tall, ranking top among all the Buddha statues in the temple, and is one of the famous giant Buddha statues in China.
