The Huguomen Gate is the most magnificent among the eight gates of the Fishing City and one of the ten symbolic landscapes in Chongqing.The gate-way entrance is 3.24 meters high, 2.45 meters wide and 6.42 meters deep. On the gate there is an inscription of three characters “Hu Guo Men ”.The gate-tower with double-layer roofs is 7 meters high.There used to be a plank road along the cliff-side leading to the gate during the time of resistance against the Mongolian army and in case of emergency the planks could be pulled down to block the invaders. Rocks for supporting the planks can still be found today.
