It is one of the eight gates of Diaoyucheng Fortress. It is built on precipitous rock faces of a hill in the west part of the city. In the old days, soldiers and civilians in the city used to get to the gate by plank roads along cliff faces. During the 36 years of resistance war, it was at this gate with its favorable natural conditions that the defenders defeated enemy attacks again and again. The present gate has been rebuilt on remaining foundations and walls of the Song and Qing dynasties.
