Shiguanmen Gate

Shiguanmen Gate is one of the eight gates of the Fortress. In May 2011, Chongqing Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology unearthed the site of the gate built in the Southern Song Dynasty. The site covers an area of about 20 square meters, its central point at 30°00’ 12.1” N,106°18’ 25.5” E, at an elevation of 209 meters. The present place used to be part of a plank road along cliff faces in the Southern Song Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Jiaqing (1796-1821) in the Qing Dynasty, local people rebuilt the gate in a new place.
